Training healthcare staff and our own workers

Safe waste management depends on well-trained people. We are building a structured training programme for both the staff of our member healthcare facilities and our own facility workers.

Programme

For Healthcare Facility Staff

Periodic training and sensitisation on the BMW Rules, 2016 and CPCB guidelines
Correct at-source segregation into the four colour-coded categories
Safe handling, packaging, labelling and internal storage of waste
Barcoding, manifests and log-book maintenance for hand-over
Refresher sessions and updated training material as rules evolve

For Our Facility Workers

Regular training on safe operation of treatment equipment
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
Occupational health & safety, immunisation and periodic medical check-ups
Emergency response, spill control and fire-safety drills
Induction training for every new worker before deployment

Note

A dedicated budget is earmarked for training member healthcare facilities on waste segregation and BMW Rules, and all permanent workers will be covered under the ESI scheme with regular occupational health surveillance.
